Foscam FI9821W V2 with control

With the newer version of the Foscam firmware you are prompted to change the default login. I did this then added another user called admin. I'm not sure if this is necessary but I was able to get the camera to work with control.

Camera Video Settings

  • Stream Type: HD Mode
  • Resolution: 720P
  • Bit Rate: 128K
  • Frame Rate: 5
  • Key Frame Interval: 50
  • Variable bitrate: Yes

Zoneminder Monitor Settings

  • Source Type: Ffmpeg
  • Function: Modect (or your choice)
  • Source Path: rtsp://admin:(Password)@IP-Address:88/videoMain
  • Remote Method: RTP/Unicast
  • Capture Resolution (pixels): 1280x720 720p preset
  • Control Type: Foscam FI9821W (see note 1)
  • Control Device: (Password) (see note 2)
  • Control Address: IP-Address:88
  • Auto Stop Timeout: 1

Notes

Note 1: Edit Foscam FI9821W and remove check marks in Zoom, Focus, White, Iris, and change Presets number from 16 to 8

Note 2: You may be able to use just the camera password or user=(user)&pwd=(password)

Note 2 addendum: I was only able to PTZ working if Control Device was in the format of user:password

Resolution

You should be able to use higher or lower resolutions but keep the WidthxHeight ratio within the values you did set in the Camera settings.

If those settings are not equal, your ZM logs will complain: Monitor dimensions are 640x400 but camera is sending 1280x720
